It's Absolutely Preposterous That Mike Trout Broke His Own HR Record With 6 Weeks Left In The Season

I want to be surprised but I just can’t. It’s Mike Trout. There’s legitimately no slowing this guy down and just for quick context, here’s his baseball reference page where you’ll note that a BOLD number means he was #1 in the AL for that particular statistic

Screen Shot 2019-08-20 at 2.49.27 PMAt some point in his career, Trout has led the AL in 10 different major statistical categories. That’s pretty impressive but also is the fact that these Angels teams SUCK. Like you clearly pitch around Mike Trout every single night. He might get 1-2 pitches that look good to a regular big leaguer on a daily basis. And even so, those come on 0-0 (he never swings at the first pitch) or on 3-0. If you’re like most people and don’t watch him outside of casual highlights, you really don’t know how funny it is watching professional athletes compete against this man. That he’s doing this much damage against such limited opportunities says everything about his talent.

Imagine his ceiling if pitchers approached him like Albert Almora or Jackie Bradley Junior or Juan Lagares. Like honestly and sincerely think about MLB pitchers going after Mike Trout like a classic suck bag and then laugh with me as he hits 90 home runs? 100? Where would it end for Mike Trout if they actually let the big dogs eat around here?

My gut says 100+ and that’s the beauty of sports. Come and argue with me if you think otherwise I’ll be over here
