Should I Be Able To Sue Apple For Sending Me Pictures/Videos Of My Dead Dog At 2am Last Night?

I almost didn’t mention this or blog it at all because it’s a bit of a downer, but I just told the story to Young Pageviews and he said it was too ridiculous not to put out into the world, so here we are. A little backstory before we get into this: I had a dog named Dante growing up, who we unfortunately had to put down in February of 2017. He was the best, most loving dog you could ever imagine. He was awkward, sometimes funny lookin, and always swung too far in one direction of the energetic/lazy spectrum, but man, I loved the shit outta that pup.

Anyway, last night, I’m lying in bed, trying to get to sleep around 2am (1:42am to be exact), and my phone goes off next to me. It wasn’t my usual R2-D2 text tone, though, it was a brief little blip that I didn’t quite recognize. So I first thought, “That’s gotta be Snapchat.” I just re-downloaded Snapchat, and quite frankly, if it was popping off at those early hours, I would be interested in seeing why. I throw my glasses on, grab my phone, and see the little “Photos” icon, but nothing else had appeared on the screen just yet because my Face ID was a little slow to the punch in the darkness. A few seconds go by, during which I’m already annoyed at the fact that I’m receiving Photo notifications that are practically waking me up, and then everything clicks, and the words – “Four-legged Friends – Over the Years” – appeared on my lockscreen next to a photo of Dante (who I told you about earlier). I was absolutely flabbergasted, and all outta sorts, but immediately screenshotted this unfortunate notification for something like this, to which I now ask: Should I be able to sue Apple for sending me pictures and videos of my dead dog at two in the god damn morning last night?

There’s gotta be some emotional distress law or something HAS to cover this, right?! I mean, what the fuck?! If I walked into the bedroom of Steve Jobs’ widow with pictures of him in the middle of the night, she could definitely sue me, so why would this be any different?! Just by nature of delivery methods? Bullshit, if so. Lawyers, hit me up.
