I mean, Dallas isn’t wrong here. It’s a valid question. How do we make sense of it all? Oakland A’s shortstop Marcus Semien was NOT named to the American League All Star team, and he’s second in fWAR (3.0) amongst American League shortstops, ninth in bWAR (3.5) amongst all major league position players. He’s having a great year. All Star-worthy, no doubt.

You know who else is having a great year, Dallas? Xander Bogaerts. Also an American League shortstop. You know what he’s been up to this year, Dallas? He leads all American League shortstops in home runs (15), runs (62), RBI (55), on-base percentage (.392), slugging percentage (.532), OPS (.925), weighted on-base average (.386), wRC+ (140), and fWAR (3.7). If you’re gonna pull some shit like this over an All Star snub, at least do it for the guy who’s statistically the best shortstop in the league.
