Aleksander Barkov Takes A Shot At Panthers Fans During His Lady Byng Speech And It's Time To Move The Team To Quebec City

Aleksander Barkov took a shot at Panthers fans during his Lady Byng speech tonight at the NHL awards saying “We have more fans from Finland here than Florida” and I think I speak for everyone when I say it’s time to just move the Panthers to Quebec. I mean, your franchise player is even chirping the franchise at how much of a joke it is.

I’m sure Barkov didn’t mean any malice behind it and wasn’t actually taking a shot at his own fans, yet more praising the people there from Finland but its true, the Panthers don’t have the best fan base and they would be so much more supported in a place like Quebec City.

The Panthers actually have a bright future as well. With guys like Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, Mike Hoffman, Keith Yandle and Aaron Ekblad their roster as some good building blocks. The team is also in a prime position to add some big name free agents this offseason. Guys like Artemi Panarin and Sergei Bobrovsky have been mentioned. And we can’t forget to mention the addition of Coach Q.

The future in Florida is bright and it’s a damn shame the people of South Florida don’t realize it. The Panthers ranked 2nd to last in home attendance last season, averaging less than 13,500 fans per game. I can guarantee you that they would draw a bigger crowd than that every night in Quebec City.
