This Film Breakdown of N'Keal Harry is Pure Patriots Porn

Oh yeah. That’s it. That’s what daddy likes. Some times you search and search for just the right video to satisfy your urges at a particular moment, and sometimes you find it right away. This one certainly did it for me.

Nate Burleson is one of the better analysts on TV. And someone who certainly speaks with some authority since he was himself a solid receiver in the league for 11 years. And if a month ago he was calling N’Keal Harry the most complete wide receiver prospect in the entire draft class, and backs up the claim with the film study, that should be good enough for anyone.

Not that I’ve been doubting the selection, mind you. Some might have a problem with his 40-time given he ran a 4.53 at the Indianapolis Kennel Club Show which was only 20th at the position. But he’s not that kind of receiver. He’s not a burner. He’s a body control, hands-catching, contested ball sort of wideout. Besides, I’ve never felt like the Patriots put that much stock into the stopwatch numbers. They’re more interested in what they call your “Flying 20,” how fast you are from the 20th yard on. For instance, Jerry Rice didn’t have the most jaw-dropping 40, but nobody could touch him from 20 yards to 40 yards. As Bill Parcells once put it about scouts at the Combine “If you took the stopwatches away, most of these guys wouldn’t know what to do with themselves.” Besides, that 4.53 puts him right in the same class or even faster than other big-body NFL wideouts like Juju Smith-Schuster, Michael Thomas, Mike Evans and Larry Fitzgerald.

I think what’s more indicative of the kind of player he is was his performance on the weight bench. His 27 reps at the Lucas Oil Olympics not only tied physical freak DK Metcalf for the most among receivers, it was more than any tight end had. As a matter of fact, it would’ve put him 13th among both offensive and defensive lineman.

But enough about the measurables. This is about Nate Burleson’s film study. You know what my favorite play he shows here is? Not that impossible, “Matrix”-like one handed grab. And not even when he spins away from the tackler on that wide receiver screen and outruns the entire secondary. It’s that dig route at the 2:15 mark:
N'Keal 3

Where Harry gets off the jam with inside leverage, gets 12 yards deep, makes a precise cut, accelerating into his break, and leaves the defender in the dust rubber field turf pellets even though he’s getting grabbed. That looks exactly like the kind of route concept that’s the Patriots offense is built on. And if you couldn’t make out the uniforms, you’d think it just as easily could’ve been Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola in his prime or Josh Gordon in between dirty urines.

I don’t want to wish the summer away, but goddamn if I’m not excited to see Harry and Tom Brady start developing chemistry. And I know I’m not alone:

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch this a few more times before Round 2 tonight. And I have pajamas to put on and candles to light.
