Dwayne Haskins' Father May Be Hiding Some Deep, Dark Secret

NJ.Com- Dwayne Haskins Jr.’s father hung up on me, his NFL star mentor Mohamed Sanu had “no comment” and an official at his Maryland-based high schoolsays he was told to direct all media inquiries to the family, “especially from reporters from New Jersey.”

In 15 years reporting on New Jersey high school sports, including six on mainly high schools, seven on mainly Rutgers athletics and now two on the Giants, I never before experienced a level of mystery and push-back like this.

———————————-

Dwayne Haskins is projected to go in the top 5-6 today. Lotta talk about whether the Giants will draft him at QB. He’s certainly the best QB prospect after Kyler Murray, and depending on whether you believe the Napoleonic fudging of Murray’s height, you might argue that Haskins is the better NFL prospect.

Until you read this weird, spooky exchange between Dwayne Haskins Sr. and a NJ reporter. The full transcript is worth a read, and it’s not too long. Check it out here.

Haskins Sr. is suspicious of the reporter, Ryan Dunleavy, the moment he mentions that he’s asked some of Dwayne’s friends and coaches questions. Dunleavy lists a group of people to whom he’s reached out for comment, and Haskins Sr. immediately says “some of them are not credible.” When Dunleavy asks for clarity, Haskins Sr. says, “Excuse me. I am the source. This is how the rhetoric goes down when it is actually self-serving and incorrect.”

Hmm. Paranoid much? Something is rotten in New Jersey, and it isn’t just the entire state of New Jersey.

What do you think it could be? We could speculate until we’re blue in the face, but let’s just throw out a theory to get the ball rolling. For the record, there is no evidence to indicate that this theory holds water. But there’s also no evidence to indicate that they don’t. You be the judge.

Dwayne Haskins is actually 42 years old.

Remember Danny Almonte? Who could forget. The little leaguer dominated kids in the 2001 LLWS, pitching a perfect game and hurling 76 MPH fastballs down the throats of tiny boys. It was later revealed that his birth certificate had been doctored, and that he was actually two years too old to play.

Dwayne Haskins might be an old dad. What do we know? Nothing hurts a prospect’s draft stock more than when a team finds out that he is 20+ years older than we thought. Of course Haskins Sr. would want to protect that information. All these high school coaches and friends that Dunleavy interviewed? They weren’t coaches and friends; they were teammates and mentee children that watched Haskins high school games through the links of a fence, their tiny fingers sticky from popcorn and ice cream, hoping that someday they might high five their hero.

Just a theory. Or is it?
