In this day of guarded statements and carefully chosen words, you rarely get to hear a guy say EXACTLY what you’re thinking while you were watching the game, but not in this case. I couldn’t agree with Marchessault more. Should have Vegas not given up 4 goal on a single Powerplay? YES. Should Gerard Gallant have taken a Timeout after the Sharks scored twice in the first minute of the PP? YES. But does that excuse the fact that this call, which was complete guesswork, changed the outcome of the game completely. There isn’t a human on Earth that was watching that game that would have said the Sharks had any chance down 3-0 with 10 minutes left with the way that game was trending. There was zero energy, zero chances, and it seemed like the clock was quickly ticking down to a boring finish. The refs clearly made an emotional decision based on a shitty injury and it gave the Sharks an entirely new life.

There needs to be video replay for major penalties and it needed to be in place yesterday.

Its absurd the things that we leave to chance and the dumb ticky tack stuff that is now reviewable for an hour. Any ref watching that back would have either called nothing or at most a 2 minute minor. It was a play that happens nonstop all game with players colliding after a faceoff and if Pavelski falls slightly differently and gets right up, there is no chance a call is ever made.
