Tough morning for the Caps. Word got out that Dmitrij Jaskin was placed on waivers and everyone was like “hmmm that’s weird but ok”.
But then it got wonky, and as it turned out DSP was actually placed on waivers by the Caps, not Jaskin. And that my friends, well it stinks.
DSP is an all time Capitals legend due to his prolific playoff performance last year. He had 3 goals in 5 games in the Finals, including this goal which is one of the biggest goals in franchise history.

He was already a legend and a Stanley Cup champion
who could have cashed in, but in the offseason he took less money to stay in DC.
He just loved it in DC. The team, the community, everything. And we loved him back.
He’ll for sure get picked up somewhere, and he’ll always be remembered fondly in DC. Sports is a fickle business, and this is one of the downsides of it. Thanks for everything, DSP.
