Tate Martell Has Our Attention, But Let's Not Forget The Other Star Of The Family

If you haven’t heard by now, 5-star Georgia QB Justin Fields is transferring to Ohio State.

We don’t 100% know if Dwayne Haskins is going to return to Ohio State for his junior year or if he’s going to declare for the NFL draft. But if we are drawing conclusions here, it looks like the Heisman finalist is on his way out of Columbus and a highly touted 5-star QB is stepping in to fill the void.

And current backup QB Tate Martell apparently doesn’t like it.

He fired off this cryptic tweet when Ohio State surfaced as one of Field’s likely destinations.

After the Rose Bowl, reporters wanted answers (naturally).

The highlight? He said “he doesn’t care to know or get to know Justin Fields.”

This kid.

People forget that Tate was committed to Texas A&M while he was still playing at Bishop Gorman. I can’t confirm, but it was probably because he wanted to ride the post-Johnny Manziel wave. Who can blame him? He’s from Vegas and has that cocky swag to go with it.

He had the high school stats and attention across the country. He was also a star in the Netflix Reality docuseries “QB1″. And last, but certainly not least, he was the apple of Dave Portnoy’s eye for a while.

He’s also the creator of one of my favorite insults of all time.

When he was still committed to Kevin Sumlin, he apparently fired off a DM about co-A&M QB commit Nick Starkel. And then they surfaced when he de-commited. You really hate to see it.

“He’s ass, my dude.”

I don’t even care that it was against an Aggie. That’s just solid. Fire up the T-shirt machine.

The guy really has it all. Well except a starting job. Or the assurance he can follow up a Heisman finalist. And any real playing time outside of garbage time. And now has the threat of another guy coming in and starting over him (again) at a different school. Hey, it happens.

BUT, fellas, let’s not forget who the real star of the family is.

Yep, that’s his sister that the Netflix nation fell in love with. What. A. Family.  Who said “reality TV” was good for nothing?!

For the sake of entertainment, I hope Tate Martell keeps firing off cocky and cryptic tweets and talking shit about guys who are reportedly the next coming of Cam Newton. The off season can get pretty boring. Give us the drama.
