It's Color Rush Friday In The NHL With Carolina And Anaheim Both Wearing Their "Home" Uniforms Tonight
They’re calling it the biggest regular season game in the NHL since Gretzky set the points record. For the first time in damn near 20 years, two teams will both be wearing their colored uniforms in a regular season indoor NHL game tonight as the Carolina Hurricanes will wear their reds on the road against Anaheim, who will be wearing their home black sweaters. Color Rush is hitting the National Hockey League and the sports world can’t get enough of it. It’s all anybody keeps talking about. You turn on SportsCenter? They’re talking about Carolina vs Anaheim color rush. You hang out by the locker room at your local gym? Everybody there can’t shut the fuck up about Carolina vs Anaheim color rush. You go to the Home Depot just to pretend like you’re an actual man even though you have no idea how to use anything in that store and if anything ever breaks down in your house you still have to call your dad to figure out how to fix it? Everybody in there is buzzing about Carolina vs Anaheim color rush. And now the day is finally here.
If you’re wondering why such an occasion is happening, it’s because for some reason Carolina is wearing their red sweaters throughout this entire California road trip they’re currently on.

Now it hasn’t worked out for them just yet as they got blanked by the Kings 2-0 on Sunday night and then got worked by the Sharks 5-1 on Wednesday night. But in each of those games, the home team was wearing white. And there’s a little rule of thumb here in the betting world where you never, EVER, bet against a team wearing home whites. It’s almost impossible to lose whilst wearing white at home. But that won’t be the case tonight. We’ve got red vs black in the battle of two colored jerseys for the first time since the Red Wings vs Maple Leafs outdoor game.
I guess technically the Flyers and Penguins also did it a couple years ago in their outdoor game, but yellow is such a light color that it’s difficult to fully count this one.
Regardless, both of those games were special occasion outdoor games. Tonight is just a standard regular season game in Anaheim. But now it’s so much more than that. Now it’s potentially the start of Color Rush SZN in the NHL. And even if this doesn’t spark an increase in color rush games throughout the league, I at least have to commend the Carolina Hurricanes for doing their part in trying to bring home whites back to the game. Pretty sure they will be wearing red on the road for at least a handful more games this season so good on them for forcing some of these teams to break out the whites in their home barn again. It’s long overdue.
