Movie Trailer Roundup - Toy Story 4 & Detective Pikachu
1. Toy Story 4 (Teaser)
A lot of people are pissy because they think ‘Toy Story 3′ was the perfect end to the franchise. I can’t dispute that, but I do love the additions of Jordan Peele (Get Out) and Keegan Michael Key (The Predator). Also Tony Hale (Arrested Development) is joining as the spork toy thing in director Josh Cooly‘s first major motion picture.
2. Detective Pikachu
When the news for this first dropped, we(LCB) shat on the concept pretty hard. But now that I’m seeing it IRL, I’m ready to eat crowe. It stars Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern), Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Ken Watanabe (Let them fight), Rita Ora (Music) and Suki Waterhouse (Insurgent). It’s directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens) and written by committee.
3. Alita Battle Angel (Trailer #3)
I’ve entirely talked myself into this movie that might turn out to be hot trash. Rose Salazar (Maze Runner: The Death Cure) is the lead, and the supporting cast is awesome. Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds), Jennifer Connolly (A Beautiful Mind), Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Ed Skrein (Deadpool) and Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast and the Furious) are all on board and thats a group I really like. Robert Rodriguez(Machete) is directing off a script from him, James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic, Terminator, Aliens), and Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) based off the Yukito Kishiro manga Battle Angel Alita.
4. Gloria Bell
I’m all about a indie movie focused on character development. It stars Julianne Moore (Children of Men), Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings), Rita Wilson (Jingle All the Way), Michael Cera (Molly’s Game), Brad Garrett (MAAAAAA), John Turturro (Transformers) and Alanna Ubach (Meet the Fockers). Sebastián Lelio (A Fantastic Woman) is directing this heartwarming looking story.
5. Roma (Trailer #2)
This is apparently a huuuuuge oscar darling from the mind of genius brain of Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity). It stars Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira (Efectos secundarios), Diego Cortina Autrey and Carlos Peralta.
6. Backtrace
This makes more sense as a 1990’s Segal movie. Sylvester Stallone (Creed II) and Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket) are the big stars in this messy looking action flick from director Brian A. Miller (Vice).
7. Fighting with my Family
The Rock!!!!
8. Dumplin’
Are people really out here still fat shaming in 2018? Why are so many movies like these coming out? Big stars are Jennifer Aniston (Horrible Bosses) and Danielle Macdonald (Patti Cake$) in this Anne Fletcher (Hot Pursuit) movie.
9. Dumbo
This is a Tim Burton movie starring Michael Keaton, Eva Green, Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito and Alan Arkin. That is all I have to say and all I feel about it.
10. The Informer
I’m all in on this movie based on the cast. It also looks a ton like the movie ‘Shot Caller’, which was fucking awesome. Joel Kinnaman (Altered Carbon) stars alongside Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Clive Owen (Children of Men) and Common (Hunter Killer) all star in this Andrea Di Stefano (The Life of Pi) movie.
