Mexico's Tequila Regulatory Council Says Elon Musk Can't Name His Tequila "Teslaquila"

NBC News- Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk and Mexico’s tequila producers could be headed for a collision after the agave-based drink’s industry group opposed the flamboyant billionaire’s efforts to trademark an alcoholic drink dubbed “Teslaquila.” The billionaire entrepreneur Musk is known for ambitious and cutting-edge projects ranging from auto electrification and rocket-building to high-speed transit tunnels. Now it seems that Musk could be setting his sights on disrupting the multibillion-dollar tequila industry. On Oct. 12, he tweeted “Teslaquila coming soon” and an accompanying “visual approximation” of a red and white label with the Tesla logo and a caption that stated “100 percent Puro de Agave.” Not so fast, said Mexico’s Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). It argued that the “name ‘Teslaquila’ evokes the word Tequila … (and) Tequila is a protected word.”

Wow I’m shocked. I simply cannot believe Elon Musk made a grand claim that he was gonna make his own tequila called Teslaquila without looking into whether or not he could actually do that. Turns out he can’t. Mexico’s Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT to those in the know) says he can’t. Why? Because his company isn’t connected to to an authorized tequila producer so the name of his booze can’t have tequila in it. Essentially dumbass Elon is trying to get into the tequila game without making actual tequila. He’s such a moron. Hey maybe he should check into something one time before tweeting and making a fool of himself. He just thinks that since he’s an entitled billionaire that he can do whatever he wants and break all the rules without any repercussions. He thinks laws and rules don’t apply to him when they very much do. Imagine being a fan of someone as insufferable as. In this case he was basically like, “I wanna make money off tequila and call it Teslaquila lol get it. I’m Elon Musk and I can just say things without getting in trouble because I have money.” Too bad that’s not the case. Idiot.
