It was a salty mood Sunday when Javy somehow got left off the gold glove train. Fortunately though, those awards mean nothing when your guy loses so NBD. Javy makes it back this time around with a Silver Slugger and thank god because the guy really deserves something for the 2018 season he put together: 83 extra base hits with 40 dingers, 126 OPS+, a .290 avg and NL secondbase-leading 131 wRC+. Those numbers are nice. You know what else is nice? The eye test. Fuck your numbers.

Back before people wrote stuff down you just used your eyes to judge things and that my friends is where I like to go when it comes to watching Javy Baez play baseball. And I’m not even going after sabermetrics or computers or advanced anything. I’m going after pen and paper.  Javy doesn’t need you. He will burn his significance into your brain without me thumbing through baseball reference to remind you.
