I love UMBC’s twitter. It’s absolutely fantastic. Ever since it was beating Virginia it’s had one goal. Continue to roast Seth Davis for guaranteeing a win by Virginia. Davis’ shtick is saying ‘sharpie’ whenever a game is over. It’s his way of guaranteeing it and just saying there’s no chance it changes.
Well back in March he tweeted out ‘Virginia. Sharpie.’ pretty early on. Here’s the original tweet:
UMBC should eat this up. You don’t become the first No. 16 seed to beat a No. 1 seed and not let it down. Davis gave them ammo with the sharpie tweet early on and they haven’t let go. It’s all in good fun and that’s what team twitter accounts should do. Ever since we’ve seen the blow up of Twitter, we’ve seen teams start to run with things like this.
So good for UMBC. Don’t ever let it down. You beat Virginia after Davis gave the sharpie with 39 minutes to go. Little did Davis and the rest of us know that UMBC would blow out Virginia. I love the shirts.
