Frankie Fins Week 2 Mission Statement

Following their 48-17 win over the Detroit Lions on Monday Night, fans of the New York Jets are tripping all over themselves with delusions of grandeur. Fans have begun planning to find their seats along the parade route, while they look for a spot to place the statue of Sam Darnold outside Met Life Stadium. This is a good thing, because the Jets history sets their fans up for the ultimate heartbreak at regular intervals, to remind them of the torture of being a fan of gang green. That is why the Dolphins must bring a nice helping of humble pie and buckets of cold water to dash the flame of hope that Jets fans have had since their Motown mauling of the pathetically awful Lions.

The Miami Dolphins also won their season opener, beating the Tennessee Titans 27-20 in a crazy game that was halted by a pair of two-hour delays due to lightning in the area around Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins put forth an excellent defensive effort, with three interceptions, including two by Reshad Jones. The Dolphins also got a key tackle by Minkah Fitzpatrick their top pick in the 2018 draft. For Miami to have any chance they will need similar type efforts. The pass rush will be a key and they will need a big effort by Cameron Wake, while Kiko Alonso clogs the middle passing lanes at linebacker.

The Dolphins offense in the first game was led by Kenny Stills who had two touchdown receptions, including one that went 75-yards. The Jets secondary is likely to focus all their efforts on stopping Stills, which means Ryan Tannehill has to find other targets, which could open the door for Danny Amendola. Things might be hard for Miami, as they are minus a starting offensive lineman, as Josh Sitton was placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn rotator cuff.

As the Jets head into their home opener, their fans are on cloud nine, but they seem to forget that Sam Darnold is a rookie and will have his growing pains. For the sake of America, the Dolphins need to be the ones that dish out that pain, after all after taking over Ford Field last week, the Jets announced that they have taken Fireman Ed out of mothballs to lead the famous J-E-T-S chant. The Dolphins have had success at Met Life, winning five of the eight previous meetings in the new Meadowlands Stadium. There are always a lot of Dolphins fans in the New York area, that have been known to take over when the Jets, begin to Jet and crumble before their home fans.

Fins up Miami let’s take it to them and let’s remind the Jets, of their place in the league as Fireman Ed returns to the retirement home as parade plans are scrapped for some heavy drinking with the rest of their fans.
