“Eagles Fans Are Such Dummies” – A short, somewhat pointless manifesto from Devilfish Dave

OK. I may surprise some people here…Davey’s not exactly wrong. I wouldn’t call Eagles fans “dummies” for trolling the Pats. It’s not a matter of intelligence. I don’t even think we’re trying to be malicious in the trolling. It’s more the fact that we still have WAY too many juices flowing after our first Super Bowl victory, and nobody knows how to properly drain the happy tank. Eagles fans, myself included, have been a dog chasing a car for our entire lives and then once we caught up to it we have no idea what to do with ourselves. We’ve already celebrated internally and then some. Everyone in the Delaware Valley is still on cloud a million. The parade basically lasted a week, and is still ongoing in some remote parts of Delco. Shit, every weekend, and possibly weekday, there’s a street being closed in the streets of Philly to replay the Super Bowl. Eagles fans can’t help celebrating amongst themselves because, well, we finally did it. Outwardly, it’s borderline abuse to keep on curb-stomping the Cowboys when they’re down. It’s gone from viciously fun to simply very enjoyable. The Giants and Redskins get their heat when they step in the kitchen. Even the Vikings continue to get their whoopin':

But the Patriots? I mean, I get it. I don’t have to agree with it, but I get the trolling. The Pats are getting heat from Eagles fans because they were the cock of the walk for so long, and rightfully played the part well on and off the field. The Eagles knocked the kings from their castle and the people want to make it known. It’s the only explanation I have for the continued trolling to a non-rival. I don’t think Eagles faithful would go out of their way to troll the Jags if they made it to the Super Bowl. Philly fans didn’t do it to the Rays when the Phillies won in ’08. It’s only because the Patriots were the cream of the crop. Key word: Were.

Then again, we’ve all been guilty of it. I’ve fired off Tweets just to rile up the Patriots fanbase. Lane Johnson is figuratively, and possibly literally getting off to slyly egging on the Massholes. The only If you’re gonna troll, troll right. The billboard was an OK idea but beyond brutal execution. The $1000 banner is cute, but it flew over for a meaningless pre-season game. Now, freshen that roadside advertisement up (like I said in the blog) and keep it permanent and fly that single engine plane over Foxborough during every home game and then we’ve got worthy Nate’s cooking from under their bridges.

Till then, I am gonna at least calm my Pats beatings unless they’re called for. You shouldn’t punch down when you’re on top. Now do me a favor and wake me up on Thursday, Sept. 6th. We’ve got a Super Bowl Championship to defend.
