As An Athlete Coming Back From An Injury Myself, JJ Watt Is Incredibly Inspiring

The thing about us athletes is that we all have this special sort of bond. When one of us feels glory, we all feel glory. When one of us feels pain, we all feel pain. It’s a brotherhood, really. Which means that technically speaking, JJ Watt is my brother. And out of all of my brothers, none of them are more inspiring than JJ.

When I tore my ACL, I won’t lie, I thought about what life after beer league would look like for me. But just like JJ said–“Never let a stumble in the road be the end of the journey”. My journey is to become the greatest beer league athlete the world has ever seen. I want to be the best. It was drives me every single day when I wake up in the morning and it’s the last thing I think about before my head hits the pillow on my way to sleep. I never had dreams or aspirations of making it to the “next” level because for me, it was never about the money or the fame. It’s because I love the game. And that’s what beer league is all about. You love the game so much that you’re willing to shell out half a paycheck just for league fees to play with a bunch of washed up dudes. By the time you’re done with the game and heading to the bar afterwards, you’re lucky if you make it home anytime before midnight. Then you have to wake up the next morning for work. Life as a beer league hero is a constant grind. But that’s what JJ said. You have to work and grind to rebuild. Success isn’t owned. It’s leased, and rent is due every day. But guess what? I don’t pay rent. I’m a squatter. So the joke is on my landlord.

Still not gonna wear those shoes though. No offense or anything.
