Phillies Win Marathon Over Dodgers With A Walkoff HR Off An Outfielder In The 16th

Forget about the Dodgers having two legitimate arms left in the pen – Dave Roberts said Rich Hill was only available in a save situation (holy eyeroll) and Craig Ferguson wasn’t available after chucking 50 pitches two days ago. Good on them for calling in the OF like it’s Little League and essentially gift wrapping the Phillies the hard fought game. And props to Kiki (no I won’t spell it the other way cause I can’t type that Spanish apostrophe thing over the e) Hernandez for throwing 80 mph gas and 68 mph junk straight out of the trash. The Baseball Gods providing batshit luck was the only chance he had to survive the inning. But, hey, at least Hernandez is up there with The Babe. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.

Also, this:

At least he didn’t look as out of place as Anthony Rizzo earlier this week.

As for the Phils, Aaron Nola uncharacteristically got knocked around a bit in this game giving up 3 runs before getting pulled after 5. Big ups to the bullpen for pitching 10 stellar shutout innings (Morgan gave up the only single run out of the pen in the 6th). Even Velasquez came in two days off a spectacular shut out victory to sink the Dodgers for an inning. An easy W for Vincent to add to the stats. After a tough loss Monday night, waking up to the news the Phils won a 5 hr 55 min marathon to maintain a one game lead in the NL East is a delight. Ring that bell, dammit. RING IT.
