Berlanga and Hearn Are Ready To Light Up MSG

Super-middleweight Edgar "The Chosen One" Berlanga leaped onto the boxing scene with 16 straight first-round knockouts starting with his pro-debut in April 2016, through the next sixteen bouts, and ending in December 2020.

After 16 straight, people began to question the quality of his opponents but nobody questioned the ability of his right hand to split defenses and knock motherfuckers out.

The caliber of his foes stepped up after that, and since 2021, he's rattled off 4 more victories (all decisions this time) to bring his record to 20-0, with 16 KOs.

A couple of months ago, the 26-year-old Berlanga parted ways with his promoter and signed up with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Promotions who has him fighting Saturday night at MSG's Hulu Theatre versus 32-year-old Irishman, Jason Quigley (20-2).

Both Eddie and Edgar stopped by HQ this week to talk about the upcoming card and where Berlanga goes after this.  Ultimately, Edgar would love to see a Mexico vs Puerto Rico bout versus super-middleweight champ Canelo Alvarez.

If that were to happen, I think you know what side I'd be on…

There are still some tickets left for Saturday's bout, but there is a mixture of Italian, Polish, Puerto Rican, Albanian, and Irish fighters involved in the evening's festivities, so a sell-out is inevitable, as is the need for extra security at the venue… I am envisioning the HULU will resemble a drunken United Nations meeting.

If you can't be there live, DAZN begins coverage Saturday night at 8 PM EST.

Enjoy the fights and take a report.

It breaks my heart that I will not be in attendance on Saturday because, as I said before, fireworks are inevitable.

Instead, I will be in Nashville with a bunch of my co-workers promoting Barstool's newest bar.

After that, Spider and I will be heading to the ALLY400 at Nashville Speedway on Sunday like a couple of fucking gentlemen.
