Chopped Cheese | The College Cook
INGREDIENTS
-8 oz ground beef
-1 yellow onion sliced into rings
-3 slices of American cheese
-1 hoagie or torpedo roll
-A few leaves of lettuce, shredded
-3 thinly sliced tomato slices
-Squeeze of mayo
-Pinch of salt & pepper
METHOD
-Begin by sauteeing the sliced onion in olive oil and butter on medium-high heat. After a few minutes cover the pan and allow the onion to sweat.
-Move the onion to the sides of the pan and add the ground beef, pressing down to ensure a nice sear forms.
-After 2-3 minutes chop the beef into the onions and finish cooking through.
-While beef is finishing to cook warm up the roll in the oven.
-Add cheese to ground beef and onions and chop together until the cheese is melted.
-Squeeze mayo on the bun then fill with chopped beef mixture.
-Top with lettuce and tomato.
-Roll in tinfoil to ensure everything stays in place.
