Homemade Gyros | The Quarantine Cook

INGREDIENTS

-Ground Lamb (can sub beef or pork)

-1 onion

-5 cloves of garlic 

-1/2 cucumber

-1 cup greek yogurt

-Fresh Mint 

-1 tomato

-Cumin & marjoram (if readily available, don't go out of your way to get)

-Pita bread

METHOD

-Place whole onion in food processor or blender (if neither are available finely dice by hand)

-Drain off liquid from ground onion and add ground lamb, or beef to the food processor/blender w/ one glove of garlic

-Mix until combined (again this can all be done by hand but it will take a bit longer)

-Form mix into long patties

-Place pan on med-high heat w/ a swing of olive oil and cook lamb patties for around 5 mins

-While lamb is cooking make your tzatziki sauce

-Peel and finley grate 1/2 a cucumber into greek yogurt

-Finely mince 3-4 cloves of garlic, add slat and cush with knife until you've formed a paste

-Add garlic paste to yogurt and cucumber

-Finely chop mint & add to yogurt mixture

-Stir until combined

-Place lamb on warm pita w/ lettuce

-Drizzle over sauce & top with fresh tomato

-Eat
