Fore Play vs Pinehurst no. 2, 5th hole (Pinehurst, North Carolina)

Pinehurst has been on my bucket list for many, many years, and should be on any golfer’s list as well. The main thing that separated Pinehurst from anywhere else I’ve been was the history. As much as I love the Bandons and Cabots of the world, they simply don’t have the history. You don’t really notice or think about it until you walk the ground at Pinehurst. It’s everywhere. You can sense it, feel it, see it, smell it, taste it. From the pubs to the fairways to the cottages, it’s everywhere, and it does something to you.

Pinehurst no. 2 is a must-play if you’re heading to the area. The Donald Ross gem has hosted three U.S. Opens, a Ryder Cup, a PGA Championship and many, many more world-class competitions. It’s one of America’s great championship tests and always will be. The U.S. Open is returning here in 2024 and I have zero doubt it will be a phenomenal venue yet again.

The greens are famous (or infamous) for their turtleback shape, propelling balls off of them and into brutally difficult spots. Your scorecard will take a beating, but it’s honestly fun experiencing it. It’s genuinely a great time getting embarrassed by some grassy undulations, like thousands and thousands have before you for over a century.

We were able to stay calm, cool, and collected thanks to cbdMD. You can too with 25% off your next order when you go to cbdmd.com/RIGGS and use the promo code RIGGS at checkout.

Can’t wait to run it back someday soon at Pinehurst.
