Next Friday, my first standup special will come to Barstool Gold. It’s called Francis Ellis: Bad Guy. The title makes sense. God help me if any Deadspin, Jezebel, or blue checkmark men of the night’s keyboard have a Gold subscription. For everyone else with a sense of humor, give it a shot.
I’ve refrained from writing some long, reflective blog about what this means to me, what it was like, etc. But I’ll just say I’m so pumped with how this came out. Top to bottom, I could not have asked for a better experience or presentation of my live work as a comedian. There is no “Barstool difference” here; no figuring out the kinks or sound issues or heavy editing to sweep shit under the rug. This is a beautiful product and if anyone dislikes it, it’s because of me and me alone. It looks like a real comedy special you’d see on Netflix or HBO because everyone involved absolutely crushed it, and I like to think I did my part too. Huge thanks to Erika and Dave for believing, and investing, in me.
If you haven’t signed up for Gold, the special will only be available there starting on June 14 at 7 p.m. ET.
You’ll get the Rough ‘N Rowdies, the Barstool Documentary, tons of behind-the-scenes content with PMT, KFC Radio, Large, Donnie… all the hits, all the goodies.
Thank you for this. It means the world. I hope you enjoy it.
