Riggs vs The Blue Monster: Trump Doral
The Blue Monster at Trump Doral hosted a PGA TOUR event for 54 consecutive years, from 1962-2016. I’d heard and seen a lot of the place but was surprised once I saw it. I’m typically not a big fan of Florida golf — flat, watery, resorty courses that all look and play the same — but The Blue Monster I loved. More variety than expected with different looks; yes it’s difficult but in a fair and playable way. Easily of my favorite Florida tracks and by far the best course on property.
