F1's Christian Horner Explains When He Fell In Love With Going Fast
On today's Pardon My Take... Christian Horner! The Team Principal of Red Bull Racing Formula One joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter to discuss the ins and outs of running an F1 team, this weekend's Monaco race, superstitions, and much more. If you're not familiar with F1 racing just yet, that's okay. You're still aware of the fact that you have to go fast in order to win. When did Christian Horner fall in love with going fast? That answer was revealed on today's show.
Mr. Commenter: Can you remember when you were growing up, I know you grew up in a motor sports family. Do you remember when you fell in love with going fast?
Christian Horner: Yeah, a long time ago, the house I lived at in the countryside, there was a hill outside the back of the garden, and there was a road. We used to make like a soapbox to go down the hill there. And of course, II had no breaks of anything like that, it's all about who can go thee quickest. So yeah, I was probably about eight, nine, that's where I fell in love with speed. Evel Knievel was a big factor in my life as well, and the fall guy, he was a big influence on my younger career.
Mr. Commenter: So, the influence was like, you love to go fast. And then you also weren't afraid of crashing from time to time.
Christian Horner: So, you want to jump things, you want a hot girl next to you in the pickup truck, Duke of Hazzard, they were a big influence on me as well. A-team, you know, all those classics.
You know when Ricky Bobby fell in love with going fast (see below), and now you have the same answer for F1's Christian Horner.
This was a fun and unique interview, and I know I'll be tuned into some more F1 moving forward.
