The Simpsons Predicting A Donald Trump Presidency Back In 2000 Is Wild Stuff

Daily Mail- The Simpsons predicted that Donald Trump would become President of the United States back in 2000. He appeared in an episode called Bart To The Future 16 years ago and was later referenced in another clip called Trumptastic Voyage.
The iconic cartoon’s creator, Matt Groening, said: ‘Trump was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s still true. It’s beyond satire.’ He said: ‘It was a warning to America. That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. ‘It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.’

Unbelievable shit. Life imitating art, or whatever the hell you want to call The Simpsons in season 11. Yeah it was a placeholder joke or whatever, but cartoon ink don’t lie. The Cubs win the World Series a year after Back To The Future calls it and now we have President Trump getting ready to move into the Oval Office. Add in the Biff/Trump parallels and you would say that Hollywood could predict the future if seemingly every celebrity on the planet didn’t get completely blindsided by last night’s election. I don’t even know what to think anymore. If Donald Trump can go from Presidential punchline to actual President, anything is truly possible (h/t Kevin Garnett). Again, unbelievable shit.

And I cannot WAIT to see what South Park has in store for us. That show was made for this election and for last night, even though I feel like there’s an actual chance Matt and Trey will just drop a “Screw you guys, we are going home” on us and announce their retirement in the end credits.
