It Is Extremely Easy To Root For Shaheen Holloway And The Saint Peter's Peacocks

On today's Pardon My Take... SHAHEEN HOLLOWAY! The Head Coach of the Saint Peter's Peacocks joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to discuss his team's Cinderella run to the Sweet 16, why his team is filled with a bunch of dogs, and much more. Speaking of tough guys on the squad, one of them is Doug Edert. Yes, the man who looks like this:

What makes this Saint Peter's team so tough? Coach Holloway gave Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter some insight on today's show:

Shaheen Holloway: I think the toughest guy, people laugh, is Doug Edert. People laugh about his mustache, Doug is one of the toughest guys on my team. He loves this, he's built for it. But I'm going to be honest, my whole team, man, they kind of follow my personality. I played this way, right? I played with a chip on my shoulder, being 5'10'', having something to prove, you know, guys telling me "I couldn't do this, I couldn't do that."

Shaheen Holloway: You know, being a McDonald's All-American and a top five player in my class as a point guard, like, I took all that stuff as fuel to the fire. And these guys play the same exact way. Some of these guys didn't get recruited heavily, some of these guys didn't get recruited at all, you know, Saint Peter's was the only school, so some of these guys have a chip on their shoulder.

Mr. Cat: Yeah, I mean, the fact that you guys beat Kentucky and the guy's name is Doug, and he's got that terrible mustache, and I think I said he looks like a guy who should be selling you cigarettes at a 7-11. Instead, he just shot 100% from the field against Kentucky, it was so great. And you could tell Doug is a dog. Like, that guy is not scared of anything. He is a perfect March Madness player, like the story and everything behind it is so perfect.

Shaheen Holloway: That's Doug for you, man. I first got the job, Doug played AAU for a guy I used to play for, Sandy Pyonin, with the Roadrunners, and he told me he had a kid, and I went to go watch him, and I loved him. I loved everything about his game, his toughness, he can make shots, he was fearless, he was not backing down. I'm like, "Yeah, I got to have this kid."

Cinderella has a new home and it is Jersey City, New Jersey. What a story. The emergence of Coach Holloway's Saint Peter's Peacocks is just another reason why March is the absolute best. Next up: Purdue in the Sweet 16 on Friday.
