Julian Edelman Gives His Prediction On Tom Brady's Football Future

On today's Pardon My Take... JULIAN EDELMAN! The three-time Super Bowl Champion joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to preview conference championship weekend in the NFL, the difficulty of beating an opponent three times in one season, Big Ben's retirement, and much more. The guys also got into it regarding the future of Edelman's longtime teammate, Tom Brady. Is this the end of the road for the GOAT, or is he going to come back for another season (or more)? Edelman shared his thoughts on today's show:

Mr. Cat: Is Tom [Brady] retiring? Did he talk to you?

Julian Edelman: I haven't... we just text a little...

Mr. Cat: And what did he say? Just like, "I'm done with this shit."

Julian Edelman: I haven't even asked him. You know, it's one of those things right now, especially if you've been in the situation after, you know, a season, a loss like he had. You don't ask a guy, like he's just going to go don his own thing for a while.

Mr. Commenter: Can you just tell him or ask him, "Don't retire this year, because then you have to go into the Hall of Fame at the same time as Ben Roethlisberger?" And I wouldn't want Tom Brady's Hall of Fame enshrinement to be overshadowed by Big Ben.

Mr. Cat: Yeah.

Julian Edelman: I was just talking about that on the way in. I was like, "I mean, if Tom were to retire, man, that would suck for Big Ben. It would be another...

Mr. Cat: ... and [Aaron] Rodgers.

Julian Edelman: ... place where this guy had a great career, but then outshined by... yeah.

Mr. Cat: You think... gun to your head... one more year?

Julian Edelman: With TB?

Mr. Cat: Yeah. I think he's got one more year because, like, looking at the Bucs roster, they basically go all back in.

Julian Edelman: It's tough when he starts bringing up family.

Mr. Cat: Yeah, the family is tough.

Julian Edelman: It's going to have to be really good for him probably. The team, how it's going, who's there, what coordinators are there? You know, he has to feel like he wants... he can go out and win it. But this is the most I've ever felt like... he could probably hang them up. You know what I mean? It wouldn't surprise me either way. That's how... he keeps his poker face pretty good.

Well, there you have it, folks. Julian Edelman is not certain one way or the other on what Tom Brady's football future holds, however, it wouldn't shock him if TB12 calls it a career. That is obviously one of, if not, the biggest storyline that we are monitoring as the offseason gets closer. Anyways, it's always fun when Edelman stops by the studio and hops on the show. Be sure to give the full podcast a listen.
