Synthetic drugs can cost you an arm and a lung.

Recorded the Twisted History of Drugs with Vibbs last week, and the overwhelming sentiment that came out of the tail-end of the podcast was that synthetic drugs are bad.

I didn't know much about them because I have never taken phencyclidine (PCP or angel dust), synthetic cathinones like mephedrone (bath salts or meow meow), alpha-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone (alpha-PVP or Flakka), or synthetic cannabinoids (spice or K2)... And after a small introduction into how they were made, I ran down a list of people who made bad decisions after doing them, which included bath salt zombies and more than one person who felt compelled to cut their own penises off while high.

And here was the worst…

In 2002, Houston rapper Big Lurch took phencyclidine (PCP) with his 21-year-old female roommate, Tynisha Ysais.

Big Lurch's real name is Antron Singleton and you probably don't know him from his work with such "artists" as Luni Coleone, Too Short, Mac Dre, RBL Posse, C-Bo, E-40, Keak Da Sneak, Yukmouth, E-A-Ski, Mystikal, TQ, Turkish Ta-Fay, DJ U-Neek, Texas' Lil Keke, and Big Bone.

(I underlined the 3 names that rang a bell and made up one of the names because the rest are just so silly.)

If none of those collaborations ring a bell, Lurch was also a member of the group Cosmic Slop Shop along with fellow members Doonie Baby and Rick Rock.

Even with all of this musical history to his name, Big Lurch never made it to the big time… And by "big time", he never made it to the GIF search engine I use. Therefore, I am forced to pepper 3 unrelated GIFs that popped up under "Big Lurch" throughout the rest of this blog… Shockingly, none of which include the iconic Lurch from The Addam's Family.

On April 10, 2002, Big Lurch took a little too much PCP with Tunisia when he slipped into psychosis and went after her… He ripped open her chest and began eating her lungs and other internal organs.

Ysais' body was found in her apartment by her friend, Alisa Allen. Her chest had been torn open and a three-inch blade was found broken off in her shoulder blade. Teeth marks were found on her face and on her lungs, which had been ripped from her chest.

When Lurch was picked up by police, he was in quite the lurch… He was naked in the middle of the street, covered in blood, and staring at the sky. A medical examination performed after his capture found human flesh in his stomach which was not his own.

On November 7, 2003, he was sentenced to life in prison. The defense argued that Singleton was in a psychotic state due to his use of PCP, but, refreshingly, the court ruled that his intoxication and plea of insanity were not satisfactory reasons for committing the crime.

He is currently incarcerated at California Health Care Facility in Stockton, California… Big Lurch is 44 years old.

So… If you're a parent who is trying to teach your teenager the perils of drugs in a society that is chock full of supposedly good ones. You now have at least one arrow in your quiver to keep your child away from PCP… It makes you eat lungs.
