Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist and Barstool Athlete Gable Steveson Says He Is Considering Giving Football a Shot

On today's Pardon My Take... GABLE STEVESON! The Olympic Gold Medalist and Barstool Athlete joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter today fresh off his awesome run in Tokyo to discuss what it was like to win a gold medal, some of his best moves, his shirts that are available on the Barstool Store, and much more. Since Steveson is a strong guy and has already proved that he can wrestle, there is a natural question that comes next: what about giving football a try? The guys asked the Minnesota Golden Gopher what he thinks about that possibility. Take a look:

Mr. Cat: Does it get annoying... Do people constantly say, "Oh my God, you're so incredible, when are you going to play football?"

Gable Steveson: All the time, yeah.

Mr. Cat: And what's the answer to that? I mean, you're like, "I'm doing pretty well with wrestling," or is there at some point, you might consider playing football? Because I think when you watch you do a backflip afterwards, you're like, "This guy, you don't see anyone move like this." Maybe Aaron Donald. Guys that big don't move like you move.

Gable Steveson: I mean, I've considered playing football. I talked, actually, to Coach Fleck of Gopher Football, and he wanted me to come out before I went to the Olympic Games to to come play for a little bit. But I told him after the Olympic Games, I'd give him an official decision. So, I'm considering playing football. I would hope one day, I can get a tryout with the NFL. And I mean, there are some teams that have came and have mentioned me to some agents and stuff that have sparked interest in me. So, I mean, it'll be cool to go out there and play football and be in the NFL for a little bit. I mean, if it comes, it comes.

Mr. Cat: (Laughs)

Mr. Commenter: Yeah, that'd be okay.

Gable Steveson: ... if it doesn't, I got another route I can hopefully take, and hopefully everything will play out right.

I'll say this: if Gable Steveson eventually makes it to the NFL one day, I wouldn't want to be on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage as him. That has got to be frightening! What a few weeks it has been for the Barstool Athlete, and I've got a feeling we are going to see A LOT more of him moving forward.
