Guy Fieri's Apple Pie And Hot Dog Combination Is Set To Take Over This Week's Field Of Dreams Game

On today's Pardon My Take... GUY FIERI! The Mayor of Flavortown joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter once again to discuss his Phoenix Suns fandom, future plans out in Las Vegas, and much more. When Guy Fieri is testing out some new foods, it is going to catch some people's attention. And the most recent development has a lot of people VERY interested. How does an apple pie + hot dog combination sound? Fieri gives out more details:

Mr. Cat: I was on vacation last week, I came back, and there was a bunch of stuff on my desk. Guy Fieri, when you think he's done it all, he's like, "Hey, I'm going to put a hot dog inside of an apple pie and basically make the most American thing ever." How did you how do you do it? How do you do it, Guy?

Guy Fieri: So, I get this call from Chevy, and my agent called me and says, "Listen Chevy wants to talk to you about this idea." I'm like, "They want me to design another hot rod!" Well, it wasn't quite that exciting, but it was a great thing. THey said, "Do you think you could take..." You remember the old jingle from the 70s, "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet." You guys aren't old enough to remember that, but when I was a kid, it was something that if you heard it come on the radio, you heard it come on the TV, you just knew how to do the sing along, and don't ask, because I'm not singing.

Guy Fieri: And they said, "Do you think it's possible that you could take an apple pie and marry it with a hot dog?" And well, my first thought was, putting a hot dog inside of an apple pie, no way would that work. And they said, "It doesn't have to be the iconic apple pie like this, but we want those flavors because apple and meat go together really well." We've obviously heard of that Bobby Brady, pork chops and applesauce. So, I said, "No, the savory and the sweet have a combo. And then, we love things that have crust, and have buns, have have texture, so, a flaky apple pie. I said, "Let me think about this, because it's really whacked out, man. This is even past the Mayor of Flavortown." I said, "Okay."

Guy Fieri: So, I called my team and I'm like, "Hey, before anybody thinks I'm drinking, let me just go over this with you. What do you think about if we took up..." And so, we started messing with it, started going back and forth and what we came up with, listen, I know you probably look at me a little sideways, but what we came up with actually should be prepared and sold in frozen food sections, because we take a flaky pie crust, we take an all American beef hot dog, we make a bacon jam with crunchy bacon, and we make an apple mustard. And we layer that hot dog in between two pieces of the flaky pie crust, a little bit of the apple pie filling, and the bacon jam in the center. And then we bake it. And then right when it comes out, we hit it with a little raw sugar, you know, just a little raw sugar on there, so it won't burn. And when we pull it out, we drizzle it with an apple mustard. And I am telling you, I'm telling you you're going to dig it.

There really aren't that many things more American than baseball, hot dogs, apple pie (and Chevrolet). What a collab we have coming to The Field Of Dreams on Thursday, and it is all thanks to Mr. Guy Fieri himself.
