In Free Agency A Few GMs Told Yasmani Grandal He Was "Fucking Crazy" For Betting On Himself, Those GMs Couldn't Have Been More Wrong

Before his injury this week, Yasmani Grandal was one of the better catchers in baseball. He's got a torn tendon in his knee that will put him out for 4-6 weeks. He has one of the funnier stat lines in baseball, only 34 hits and an average of .188, but his OBP is .388. He just gets on base. Before the injury he came on Starting 9 to talk about his season and how it's going, they also talked about how going into free agency after 2018 a few GMs told him he was "Fucking Crazy" for betting on himself, he signed a one year deal with the Brewers after that and then signed a massive 4-year, $73 million deal with the White Sox. I'd say betting on himself worked out quite well.

Jared: "The one thing that I respect about you the most was you were a guy who bet on yourself."

Yasmani Grandal: " I met with a few GMs and I told them, and those GMs kind of called my agent and said "hey this guy is fucking crazy". My agent was like "trust when he tells you this, it's going to happen." You know I saw those GMs afterwards during that year and they kind of were shaking my hand like "shit we should have listened to you!."

Jared: "Yeah!"

Jared and Dallas also talk about the streaking Dodgers and Cubs. One of those clubs was red hot with LA winning 9 straight, the other club can't seem to find a win as the Cubs have lost 11 straight. They also dive deep into the recent struggles of Gerrit Cole and Aroldis Chapman. Both pitchers have seem to come unraveled after baseball said they would start checking for sticky substances during the game. Hmm, that seems a bit suspicious. Wonder why they haven't been pitching well since that. All Star rosters are examined and they talk about the injury to recent guest, Kyle Schawrber. A great episode to dive in and listen to if you're still nursing that 4th Of July hangover on the beach somewhere.
