Making your big league debut is already nerve wracking enough, but imagine standing on the rubber and looking towards home and seeing guys like Mookie Betts, Corey Seager, Justin Turner, and Max Muncy waiting to tee off on you. That is what Ryan Weathers of the San Diego Padres had to deal with. And it wasn't just a normal game in May against the Dodgers, it was in Game 1 of the NLDS in 2020. Weathers hadn't pitched above Low Single-A and next thing you know he's facing the eventual World Series Champions in the playoffs. Talk about your "welcome to the bigs" moment. Seeing that lineup on the other side has to open your eyes a little, this isn't Low-A anymore, you're in the big boy show now.

Ryan: " I think my first start when it was like me going against Walker Buehler. I'm like "ohhh my god", and then Mookie Betts is stepping in the box, then Corey Seager, then Justin Turner, then Max Muncy, I'm like "hoooo, this is a little different."
