How Much Anticipation Would There Be For A Gonzaga-Baylor National Championship Game?

On today's episode of Barstool Bench Mob, we recap the entirety of the Elite Eight. Gonzaga, UCLA, Baylor, and Houston have all punched their tickets to the 2021 Final Four. While there is just one "blue blood" remaining in this year's tournament (the underdog, ironically), there has been plenty of debate around the office over the last couple of days about whether or not a potential Gonzaga vs. Baylor National Championship Game would be one of the most anticipated games ever:

Dave was not a fan of this take by Rico:

From a sports biz perspective, the two brand names of Gonzaga and Baylor do not move the needle at all to the common fan. But for college basketball diehards like us, we have known that the Bulldogs and the Bears have been the two best teams in the country since November. They were supposed to play in Indianapolis earlier this season, but the game got canceled right before tip. Gonzaga is undefeated, while Baylor managed to lose just two games in what was arguably the toughest conference in the the sport this season.

When talking true anticipation, there is no question that a Duke vs. Kentucky title game would create more noise. When looking back at this championship battle 20 years from now, the names Gonzaga and Baylor won't be as memorable as a pair of blue bloods going to war to try and cut down the nets. But don't get me wrong, if we are fortunate enough to get this game on Monday night, it has the chance to be a classic.
