Hi haters™,

The international break is here and you have every right to be annoyed about it but I do have some good news: first, football is officially back – both college and pro – and while last night’s NFL season openers was about as drab as a West Ham intersquad scrimmage

there is every reason to think that some of the games coming up this weekend will be a little more exciting.

Second, and more importantly, Puty’s World Cup (and all the pain and embarrassment that came with being an American for it) is over and behind us so we as a soccer nation are now officially on to bigger and better things, which in this case means developing a new generation of incredibly talented but very inexperienced young players into the type of team that can compete at World Cup 2022 and win World Cup 2026… starting with Friday’s fixture against big, bad Brazil.

That leads me to #3 on the list of good news: the latest installment of Sam’s Army Podcast is HERE and in it you will find everything you need to know to get your mind right for today’s USMNT 2.0/Brazil game, including the starting XI we should all be hoping for and what is most important to watch for, capped off with a few additional thoughts about Earnie Stewart’s strategy for finding the team a new coach.

But wait! There’s more! Free of charge!

In addition to all the talk about Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, Timothy Weah, Zac Steffen and company, Jimmy and I also discuss:

• Possible plan to nix the ‘away goals’ rule in Champions League

• West Ham doing West Ham things

• Toni Kroos throwing Leroy Sane under ze bus

• Help wrap your brain around wtf the “UEFA League of Nations” is and how it works

To answer some of the questions we have been getting on social media, yes, a voicemail system for questions and rants will hopefully be up and running sometime soon (next week is the goal) and, yes, we also hope to start bringing on guests very, very shortly. In the meantime, let this be a friendly reminder that new episodes will be dropping every Tuesday and Friday, and my only request is that you help get the word out about the greatest soccer podcast Barstool “Sprots” has ever officially sanctioned (whether Pres knows about it or not) by telling your friends, telling your family, telling your neighbors, etc:
