Vince Dunn Took A Shot To The Face Last Year And Broke His Upper Jaw. Will He Wear A Shield? "I'd Rather Just Take Another Puck To The Face"

The season hasn’t even started yet and Vince Dunn has already locked up Hockey Guy of the Year. He might even be a first-ballot Hockey Guy Hall of Famer after that quote. Buddy soaked a shot to the face in game 3 of the Western Conference Final last year, broke his upper jaw, still managed to get back out there in the Stanley Cup Final, and now he’s a Stanley Cup Champion. I don’t know why but for some reason I feel like breaking your upper jaw is drastically worse than the lower jaw. Because at that point, it’s like your entire goddamn face is broken. And he was still out there for games 4-7 of the Final.

So how is he going to prevent an injury like this to happen again in the future? Is he going to take any precautionary measures? Is he going to wear any additional equipment? Or is he just going to be the ultimate guy and eat another shot for the boys again if he has to? That’s a rhetorical question because we already know the answer. What a response. Fuck a face shield and fuck any journalist who would ever even ask him such a question. I bet he’s pissed off enough already that he needs to wear the visor. If it were up to Vince Dunn, he’d go out there no bucket and just fly around the ice like the game was intended to be played. Making an NHL player wear a face shield would be like forcing the Tour de France riders to use training wheels. Not gonna happen. Even if your jaw is fucked and you had to get 5 new teeth put in.
