Eagles Snag DE Michael Bennett (And A 7th) From The Seahawks For A 5th And WR Marcus Johnson

The champs, stay champs. Nice to see Philadelphia not only having nice things, but acquiring more fancy toys. Sure, Michael Bennett is 32-years-old, but he did have 8.5 sacks last season. Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, Chris Long, and MB is a solid 2-deep worth of DE’s. Now, that obviously doesn’t include Vinny Curry who is either going to get traded, cut, or have his contract restructured. But with or without him, the Eagles should be set going into the season at DE position.

Marcus Johnson had 5 catches for 45 yards this year (3 for 23 in the final, pointless Week 17 game of the regular season vs. the Cowboys). I’m a bit more worried about the draft picks, as I was before. The Eagles have the last pick of the first round (32)…and then don’t select again till the 4th (131). That’s a lonnnngggggg time. But a steal is a steal is a steal. Essentially a 5th for an established player like Bennett is highway robbery. And for those who think he may be a disruptive force in the locker room, relax. This team has more chemistry cooking in it than a Heisenberg meth lab. Even if Michael Bennett was an atomic bomb worth of attitude, which he is NOT, it’s gonna take a lot more than that to wreck havoc to the spirits of this team.

Even if you did question this move, you can’t really knock on an administration that’s coming off a Super Bowl victory. They are pretty much immune to scrutiny till at least Week 1, and maybe forever. Stay hungry, my friends.
