New Barstool Storyboards - Dennis Rodman: In The Mix

***NOTE: Storyboards now has its own landing page. To consume Dennis Rodman: In The Mix, head over to the Storyboards.Barstoolsports.com home page. This site will have blogs, video, and audio content for all Storyboard releases***

For new Stoolies who havent been around that long, they’ve probably never heard of Storyboards. And for the guys who have been around, its been about 18 months since I dropped one. Well, we’re back. Out of retirement. Wearing 45. Ready to start another dynasty. And this shit is FIRE.

Storyboards is a channel with full length podcast features about the greatest athletes, entertainers, and moments in pop culture and sports. I write them and narrate them, and Logan and BC incorporate audio clips, music, sound effects etc etc so that each episode feels like a special, polished production. Its like stand alone episodes of Serial, or an audio version of 30 for 30, with the obvious X Factor being that we can talk about anything we want. Most of the sports documentaries you watch or listen are coming from major networks and so everything is kept clean and certain subject matter needs to be avoided. With Storyboards we inject the Barstool humor and talk about whatever we want. There’s 5 docupods already up there – some serious, some funny, all of them pretty legit. Arod, Dave Chappelle, James Dolan, a Serial spoof with Ryan Lochte, and now Rodman.

The plan is to start to release these approximately once a month (they are a fuck ton of work for everyone involved so don’t strictly hold me to that) and we’ve created its own landing page so that its more than just a podcast. With “In The Mix” and going forward, every drop will be a fully immersive 360 experience. Which is just fancy industry bullshit jargon to explain that theres an audio podcast, supplementary video content, and a full length written blog that all compliment the podcast product. You can read, watch, and listen to fully dive in to these topics. The landing page is SLICK. It does that parallax scrolling with background pictures and quotes and shit. Might be totally standard for other websites in 2018 but for Barstool I’m like OH SHIT:

The blog written over on Storyboards.Barstoolsports.com for In The Mix gives you a behind the scenes look at how we tackled Dennis Rodman. How we told the story, what angle we took, and how the feature all came together. I wanted to blaze another new trail here at Barstool and go beyond just podcasts. And I think this 360 idea shows just how versatile Barstool can be. We can do it all from written word to podcasts to video content. The guys in front of the camera and microphone, and the guys behind it. To be honest I wish I could just do this for my career. Maybe as these grow, and if they company backs them and sponsorship dollars roll in, these could become a focus of KFC Radio. I’d gladly do these the right way and work on them for like 6 months to do it fully right. Get interviews and investigate correctly. Record multiple drafts and all that stuff. Instead we just busted our asses for 6 straight weeks conquering one of the most complex and intriguing guys ever in sports and entertainment history.

Go read, watch and listen. Get in the mix. Hope you enjoy it.
