Jacob deGrom's MRI Showed No Ligament Damage And He Will Try To Start On Monday

In case those tweets didn’t make you happy enough, Keith’s tweet certainly will.

Live look at Mets fans around the world:

So that’s good news! At least for now! Better than the dark thoughts all of us Mets fans had last night and better than the Daily News’ report that dropped right before the press conference started.

Nothing better than mixed messages about important players’ injuries. God it feels great to have the Mets back in my life!

And yes I know how quickly “Will try to make his next start” can become “Will never pick up a baseball again” in Metsworld. In fact even though he has been banished back to his home planet, I am fully prepared the signature Ray Ramirez timeline of:

1. Player tries to play and no DL moves are made
2. Mets play shorthanded for a week as player rests
3. Player lands on 10-day DL
4. Player transitions for 60-day DL for roster purposes before hopefully coming back in September

But I’ve said many times, this season is different than years past. So I have to believe that we may have actually dodged a bullet nuclear bomb with this one along with Conforto coming back early and Yo missing no time with the thumb injury. Sure that belief is based on having a handsome manager, a quirky celly for base hits, and Keith Hernandez being on Twitter. But as a Mets fan that just wants to believe in something, that is more than enough for me.

Speaking of that handsome manager, I love him to death, but I need Mickey to clean up a few things. He needs to treat Jose Reyes like he is the last man on the team. Especially late in big spots. He needs to make sure Juan Lagares is playing defense late in every close game in which the Mets are ahead. And he cannot let his pitchers go out an pitch an inning after complaining of their elbow hurting on a swing. Other than that, keep working the juju that got us a nice start and lets take back first place today.

I also need Jacob deGrom to change a few things after potentially getting a second lease on his 2018 season’s life.

1. Let that hair grow. Spitting in the face of the hair gods may have been what got us into this situation.
2. No more swinging a bat. Ever. Jacob deGrom is good enough at keeping the opponent’s run totals down to justify making him an absolute zero at the plate. I want deGrom standing at the absolute outside edge of the batters box like Mr. Koo used to do.

3. Go on Mike Francesa’s show weekly. You cannot tell me its a coincidence that the Mets tied the best start in franchise history with Numbah One retired and then had their ace get injured literally the day after he came back. Mike thrives on Mets misery. It gives him ratings, talking points, and allows him to become their savior by doing things like convincing the Mets to trade for Mike Piazza (his words, not mine).

NOW HIT THE GOOD JUJU MUSIC!!!
