Daily Mail- A group of 50 ‘mourners’ have attended a mock funeral for their friend who abandoned them 18 months ago after meeting his girlfriend. Reformed ‘lad’s lad’ Keiran Cable, 20, has left his former life behind to dedicate himself to spending time with Jess Ferguson, 19, who maintains he can still go out ‘whenever he likes’. But Keiran was left flabbergasted when he arrived at his local pub in Treorchy, South Wales, to watch the rugby only discover it was his funeral and wake rolled into one. His friends had organised a vicar, a coffin and a hearse as well as producing an order of service with personalised hymns to celebrate his life.  Organiser Ben Sullivan said they called the funeral because it felt like his friend had ‘died’ after his new relationship with 19-year-old Jess.  He said: ‘None of us had seen him since then and he wasn’t replying to any of our group texts or mails. ‘A couple of weeks ago we were all in the pub and we all started saying ‘RIP Keiran’. ‘So we decided if he wasn’t going to come out with us and was going to pretend he was dead then we’d organise a funeral for him.’

I love this idea. If you have any sort of a group of buddies this is bound to happen. One of you gets a girlfriend and straight up disappears. Poof. Gone. Almost like they died. So why not throw him a funeral? Such a good idea. But that relationship has like 3 months left after that, right? It can’t have much longer.  Because it’s one thing for your pals to give you shit about having a girlfriend.  Most of the time the guy doesn’t care about shit like that.  Bottom line is the guy is getting consistent sex and most of the guys in the group aren’t.  Given that fact he’s more than willing to take the, “Oh who’s this stranger?” and “RIP bro! You’re dead to us” jokes. But it’s a whole different story once the girlfriend hears those jokes. I’m gonna guess she was less than cool with her boyfriend’s friends throwing him a fake funeral because he spends all his time with her.  Now she’ll be too embarrassed to be around them, will refuse to hang out with them and that’s a fight. That’s where it crumbles. Relationship over. The good thing? That just means this guy will no longer be dead and can go back to hanging out at the bar with his buds. There’s lots of fish in the sea, my friend.

‘I’m sure my girlfriend will be fine about it.’
