The First Annual Barstool Chicago Punt, Pass and Kick Competition Is LIVE!

So this was presented to me by Carl on Red Line Radio a few weeks back.  He challenged me to set up a punt, pass and kick competition.  Challenge accepted.

Now the first thing that popped in my head was to just half ass it like I half ass everything.  Just show up to Lincoln Park or some HS in the area and bombs away.  But after fucking up a few times over the last few weeks I decided to do it the right way.

Now in a past life coached baseball.  Started my own travel program and have a few kids playing D1 ball as we speak.  I say this with no embellishment – finding a field is a BITCH, so I knew that going into this.  Nobody wants to let you touch their field for liability reasons, maintenance, etc.  I was told “no” about 2 dozen times before finally landing a field.  Here is a list of a few of the HS’s and park districts that I tried to wrangle in for this:

Wheaton Warrenville South
Downers North and South
Lakeview HS
Chicago Park District
OPRF
Wheaton Park District
Naperville Park District

I thought I had Downers South locked down for about 2 weeks.  Was gonna be for free too. Then when I was ready to sign the contract and rental agreements they handed me a tab for $1500 for maintenance, supervisors, bathroom rental, and more.  I tried to talk our business team into footing the bill but needless to say they told me to fuck myself.

But I lucked into getting Evergreen Park involved and it couldn’t have been easier.  Just had to get them on our insurance and boom, good to go.  Free of charge.

SO, without further ado, introducing the first annual Barstool Chicago Punt, Pass and Kick competition.

But WSD do I just have to show up?  

Kinda.  First you have to donate $10 to PAWS charity.  Part of the caveat to use Downers South HS was that we tied a charity into it.  So go help save some puppies.  That’s how you enter.  Obviously this has nothing to do with the actual contest but let’s save some good boys and girls anyways.
