UFC Welterweight Ben Askren Joins Me In My Mom's Basement This Week

I had the opportunity and pleasure of speaking with “Funky” Ben Askren yesterday, just after he had completed the weight cut for his freestyle wrestling match with Jordan Burroughs (which is going down TONIGHT at The Garden), and this highly requested crossover on the pod couldn’t live up to the hype any more if ya ask me!

Ben was the coolest, chillest dude imaginable, and actually oddly kidnapped me/took me to lunch upon my arrival to the New York Athletic Club, along with Kyle Snyder and a whole bunch of other killers, which was a bit surreal.

We talked Beat the Streets, preparing for a wrestling match vs preparing for a fight, Ben’s next bout versus Jorge Masvidal, his debut versus Robbie Lawler (and getting slammed on your head), and oddly enough – cryptocurrency and the blockchain. Shoutout Bitcoin Marty. Of course, I had to bring back everybody’s favorite segment – “Goof or No Goof” – for the Funky one, and he did not disappoint.
