Forget what he did on the court, this story alone makes Gilbert a legend in my book and at the very least an A+ wingman. Here he was watching his rookie teammate put in hours of work with a certain young lady. One of those situations where you’re in the club and you’re really into a girl but she’s only giving you attention but really wants to get with one of your friends. A tale as old as time.

So what does Arenas do? He hooks his boy up. He knows he could pull his girl no problem but he wanted to help his rookie out so he makes the deal of a century. You saw the reaction from Nick Young, that’s a man that smashed all thanks to his pal. He also learned a valuable lesson along the way. Can’t be falling in love with jersey chasers, I’m sure that’s part of the Rookie Symposium nowadays. Sure, chances are Gilbert also got it in but I hear that story and all I take away from it is a veteran helping a young rookie out when it comes to transitioning into NBA life.

Those Wizards teams really were something man. Sure they never really won and were filled with dysfunction and guns and all that bad shit, but they are also giving us these fantastic stories years later so let’s just call it a wash.
