Stephen Piscotty Homers Over The Green Monster in His First AB Since Re-Joining the A's After His Mother's Funeral

Is it getting dusty in here or is it just me? Sports are the best, man. In case you don’t know the background story, Stephen Piscotty’s mother Gretchen recently lost her battle to ALS and passed away. I wrote about how in the offseason the A’s and Cardinals worked out a deal to ship Piscotty back home his home in Oakland so he could be within driving distance to see his mother as much as possible.

He returned to the lineup on May 8th and singled which was an emotional moment in itself. He played in one more game before the A’s hit the road. Piscotty opted to stay behind to be with his grieving family following the tragic loss. Tonight he rejoined the team on the road, in Boston, and in his first at bat blasted a homer over the Green Monster for a home run. Just an unbelievable moment all around for a great kid. I’m team Stephen Piscotty forever.
