Gronk Firing a Minigun is About as Badass as it Gets

SourceThe M134 Minigun is a 7.62×51mm NATO, six-barrel rotary machine gun with a high rate of fire (2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute) which can also fire at a high sustained rate.[3] It features Gatling-style rotating barrels with an external power source, normally an electric motor. … The Minigun is used by several branches of the U.S. military. Versions are designated M134 and XM196 by the United States Army, and GAU-2/A and GAU-17/A by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy.

You might think you’re a badass mammajamma, but you’ll never be as badass as Rob Gronkowski wielding a six-barrel rotary electric-powered delivery system of hot zizzing destruction. And I need to add: Safely. In a controlled environment. Under adult supervision.

I do not own a gun. I’ve got responsible, legally licensed gun owners in the family but I’ve only fired one a few times in my life. And while I’m pro-2A, I get people’s negative, emotional reaction to them. That is, until you fire one. Then you totally get the appeal. Consider the reaction of strongly anti-gun, Left Coast vegan Kari Byron when she got to chop a tree down with one on Mythbusters:

You could just feel her toes curl as she turned into a Slip & Slide about halfway through the ammo box. And feeling 6,000 per second coming out of your hands like Gronk did here must feel like having a big, rotating, steel dick capable of busting 100 nuts per second. And I’d be utterly incapable of doing it without thinking of the jungle canopy scene in Predator. Or remembering the story of how when John McTiernen visited the studio armory and wanted Jesse Ventura to carry that gun. The prop guy said it’s built to be mounted on the side of a helicopter and no man could hold one. To which replied “This man can.” And so could Arnold and Bill Duke, fortunately:

And so can Gronk, obviously. And if this is how he’s going to get ready for training camp, by staying pliable, eating TB12 Method-approved food and filling the floor of some gun shop (in complete safety) with spent shells? More power to him. It beats the hell out of seeing him get into wrestling.

The Summer of Gronk has begun.
