Mets Trade Matt Harvey For Devin Mesoraco And Cash

Well it’s official, Harvey Day is now a Cincinnati holiday. Instead of taking a demotion to the Minors to work on his craft, Harvey traded in the bright lights of Broadway for the Skyline Chili of Cincy. Going from Citi Field to The Great American Ballpark should be quite a treat as well. Same with going from this wholesome family of mascots

I don’t know if the Reds brought in Harvey to ensure they would have the worst record in baseball and land the number 1 pick on some #TrustTheProcess shit or if they think they can actually fix him. I just hope he can get the start tomorrow afternoon in the getaway game of the series so the Mets can pick up an easy win. Oh what is that you say?

Shit. At least there is no chance Harvey could come back and shove it up the Mets ass, which would be about par for the course for this franchise. I wonder if Matt will go back to the LA club that signaled the beginning of the end of his time in New York.

It’s still kind of amazing how this all has happened. Matt Harvey is officially no longer a Met. But in the end I’m happy they were able to get SOMETHING for him, especially at a position of need like catcher.

HOWEVA, lets not get too excited about Devin Mesoraco. Yeah he went 25/80/.273 as a backstop in 2014. But it has been nothing but pain for Mesoraco since. Not Mets fans, I want to stab my eyes out because this team is driving me crazy pain either. Like literal pain with shoulder and hip injuries. He has played 113 games in the last 3+ seasons and put up a total split of 7/20/.195 in that time. Not exactly the kind of player that should be probably playing catcher in the Bigs or traded to the team that sends players to the DL more often than SEC schools send football freaks to the NFL. If Mesoraco could go back in time, I’m guessing he would trade in those tools of ignorance for a first basemen’s glove and see how far his bat could take him. But this is reality. I’m not even hoping for a miracle with Mesoraco. I’m just hoping a change of scenery turns him into at best a mediocre catcher, which would be an upgrade for the Mets. And maybe by the grace of God the Wilpons will use the cash from the trade to improve the ball club at some point instead of using it for Memorial Day Weekend groceries.

Also shout out to the Mets for lumping in their spiritual leader and starting third baseman Todd Frazier landing on the 10-day DL and Anthony Swarzak being transitioned to the 60-day DL. So typical Mets. Now all we need is for Wilmer to get dinged up so Jose Reyes becomes our third baseman again. Awesome. Cue the GIF of every Mets fan right now!

I can’t wait to talk about Devin Mesoraco batting .095 on a future Mets Therapy Session. But until then, here is today’s therapy session that is already semi-outdated because Mets news is coming fast and furious (with an emphasis on furious) these days.
