I don’t think I’ll ever understand how Jim Edmonds caught this ball. Just an incredible catch. I may have to put it ahead of the Willie Mays catch. But I mean what an unreal catch. I don’t think my body could even run forward if by head was that far back tracking a ball, let alone execute a dive and have it land perfectly in the glove. I just can’t comprehend how you sprint full speed ahead knowing you are closing in on a wall and still have the mindset to lay out for the ball.
I remember being 8 years old at the beach in Nags Head when I saw this catch. I thought it was the most incredible thing I’d ever seen, I still think that is true to this day. Put a statue of this catch out front of the Angels stadium STAT, Edmonds was a defensive wizard. He was easily one of the most fun guys to watch patrol center field in the 90s and 2000s. He did stuff like this regularly, what a stud.
Note – I’m gonna be doing random MLB Wake Ups in the mornings. Hit me with any videos you want to see, they don’t all have to be moonshots and fights, random funny MLB videos will play as well. Giddy up.
