Tiger Woods Is Back (...in next week's Wells Fargo Championship)

Ahhhh do you feel that? You feel it? That’s the beautiful feeling of Tiger Woods playing a full PGA TOUR schedule again. The Wells Fargo next week will be Tiger’s 7th start of 2018. That’s the most since 2012, when Tiger also made Charlotte his 7th stop of the year. He went on to win 3 times that year, 5 the following season, and reascended to no. 1 in the world.

Tiger’s results in the 2018 comeback thus far:

Torrey Pines – T23
Riviera – CUT
Honda – 12
Valspar – T2
Bay Hill – T5
Masters – T32

All things considered, good. Very fucking good. Tiger was arrested on May 29th last year with a cocktail of problematic drugs in his system. Here we are 11 months later and he’s posting the above finishes? Logging 4 rounds at Augusta? Contending on the regular? It’s amazing.

We demand wins from this dude and we always will, but when you step back and think about it you realize: just getting to watch him play on one of your hidden screens in the cube next Thursday and Friday is a real treat.

The wins will come. Tiger’s never put in the volume and not gotten wins out of it. He won here in 2007, and very well could get it done next week.

But simply knowing he’s playing a full schedule — Wells Fargo, the Players, the Memorial, the US Open, the British Open, the PGA, the FedEx Cup, etc — is so goddamn exciting.

And he’ll be doing it against the new generation that’s as good as ever.

Golf, so hot right now. Golf.
