Gas Money Bob's 2018 Bears NFL Draft Preview
Ryan Pace has the opportunity to put the finishing touches on the next great football dynasty. The up and coming Bears are only a few impact players away from being great again. After winning free agency Pace and the Bears will look to win the draft. As long as he sticks to these keys Chicago will be shuffling once again.

Round 1, Pick 8
Quenton Nelson OG Notre Dame
He’s tough, physical, and plays with a mean streak. An alpha that has only one thing on his mind, kicking your ass. Glass eating road grater in the run game and has a wide base and rare power in pass protection. When you play against Quenton Nelson you’ll feel it the next day. Coming out of a local Chicago school like Notre Dame is a bonus.
Round 2, Pick 39
Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise State
The Bears go back to the Boise State well to get another impact linebacker. Vander Esch is a long athletic player with fluid hips. Very instinctive and always around the ball. Could be Brian Urlacher 2.0. Vander Esch is a former basketball player so the Bears could even convert him to a Tight End.
Round 4, Pick 105
Tre’Quan Smith WR Central Florida
Drafting players from championship teams is always a good move. The long armed Smith has tremendous ball skills and can go up and get it. Has good speed and acceleration to separate from defenders. Most importantly he is a willing blocker in the run game and in Chicago we get off the bus running. Smith is an underrated prospect who will have a chip on his shoulder after slipping to the 4th round. Pace does it again.
Round 4, Pick 115

Quenton Meeks CB Stanford
Give me all of the Quentons. The Bears draft another player with great ball skills this time on the defensive side of the ball. Meeks not only has excellent length but is also a coaches son so his football intelligence is off the charts. Some are concerned about his closing speed but he is a sound tackler so Fangio could convert him into an All-Pro safety.
Round 5, Pick 145
Brandon Parker OT North Carolina A&T
I heard Bears RB Tarik Cohen singing Parker’s praises on the radio the other day. That alone is enough for me to want him on the Bears. Another coach’s son Parker has epic arm length, good punch, and shows solid athleticism. Parker, with the help of O-Line guru Harry Hiestand, could become a pro-bowl tackle for years.
Round 6, Pick 181
Hercules Mata’afa Edge Washington St
It is said that Hercules is known as the toughest guy in the locker room. Pair him up with Nelson and we quickly have the toughest locker room in the league. Hercules has a nonstop motor. His mission is to destroy the ball carrier. Crushing tackler with explosive get off. He is versatile enough to rush the edge or move inside. A steal in the 6th round.
Round 7, Pick 224
Ike Powell, LS Auburn
This is my guy. The Bears took a chance to wait until the 7th round to draft Powell, but he falls in their lap and everyone is ecstatic. His snaps are accurate and delivered with good velocity. He has good size and spins the ball well. He’ll also be a hit at the annual team bowling party.
