Cavs Tie The Series Up At 2-2 Thanks To Kyle Korver And Some Minor Help From The Refs

The Pacers gave up 60 points in the first half. They were only down 10 after a late second quarter run but they needed a better defensive showing in that first 24 minutes if they were going to put up a 3-1 series lead and it just wasn’t there tonight. Despite their defensive efforts in the first half, and just a putrid shooting night from Victor Oladipo, they were able to take the lead in the middle of the fourth quarter before Kyle Korver caught fire, burying a couple of threes to regain the lead and keep the Cavs in front. It also doesn’t help your comeback chances when obvious jump balls are just handed to your opposition for no rhyme or reason.

Somehow, that wasn’t even close to the worst call of the fourth quarter. Resident LeBron troll Lance Stephenson ran the “just tie up whoever has the ball and force a jump” play again and after being initially called a jump on the floor, it was ruled a foul after a brief review due to it being a “hostile act.”

A “hostile act” for those wondering at home is a completely made up thing that flat out doesn’t exist. And if it did exist, one would think it would register as a flagrant foul as opposed to the common foul which was called in this scenario, no? The Pacers were down three at this point of the game and nothing would’ve caused more mayhem then seeing Jeff Green over exert himself on the jump and end up tipping the ball into his own basket. Where the game goes from there is anyone’s call but man oh man did this one not end nearly as amusing as it should have. That one had Reggie Miller at the Garden dropping 8 points in 9 seconds level of meltdown written all over it.

Thanks a lot, David Stern.
